ANNA CORDULA born Rohn of Wuerenlos, wife of Franz Joseph, born Oct.4,1822,died Sept.27,1908 “Nannette”. Her grandfather, Rudolf Rohn resided in Wuerenlos, where we know that her father Anton and his sister Elise and other children were born. Anton went to study in Fribourg when about 6 months later he head to return home because of his fathers sudden death, and he had to take over the house and the business. Later he rented a store in Baden where he married Veronica Falk, daughter of the owner of the “Salmon” in Baden. Veronica died in 1843,she had a brother Falk-Nieriker of the “Krone” in Dietikon and apparently a Mr.Falk in St. Gallen. Anton Rohn and Veronica had 7 children, Alois born Oct.19, 1822,married Jeanette Scherer and took over the drygood store. Nannette was the second child, then Sigmund (9/6-9/22/24),then Elisabeth(3/13/1826-6/24/1826) Verena, Elise born 4/26/1827 married Mr. Wyss, next Juli-Johann Anton, called “Jean” born 7/6/1828 who became a priest, later Decan Rohn, and finally Edward who died at birth 6/22/1829. Nannett’s life is beautifully described in her diary, which, I believe, I found at the Ledergerbers in Baden, they became the successors of the drygood store of Alois Rohn. In the parlor upstairs I remember seeing over a doorway the oil painting of the Borsinger Crest, dated 1664. I remember that my grandmother Elise with her daughter Anna from the Schoeneck traveled every year to Baden for the purchase of their linens and other fabrics from the Ledergerbers. The Ledererbers were kind enough to lend me “Nannett”s diary which was written in the old German style handwriting and which I was able to copy and then returned to them. |
