THE BORSINGER CHRONIK

“VERENAHOF” FRANZ JOSEPH, born Oct.4,1822,died Sept.27,1905, son of Kaspar Jos. Anton Niklaus and Carolina Haessig. I believe the Ledergerbers gave me a very early photography on glass, probably dating about 1860 showing him with his two sons Eugen and Joseph. I was able to get copy’s of it and gave the original back. We become familiar with Franz Joseph through his wife Nanto’s diary. On request of his father in law, Anton Rohn, he acquired at an auction the monastery” Maria Kroenung”. He found his own sulfur well and built up the old Verenahof, was initiative in the creation of the “Kurhaus”(Casino) and became its director,1873 made a donation of 10 000 Francs for the National Railroad. After he gave over the Verenahof to his sons Eugen and Joseph, he resided at the Villa Kreuzliberg which he had bought from Anton Rohn, and he came city councilman.
