HELENA ANNA MARIA,born Jan.30,1918, daughter of Karl and Olga. After primary school under tudor she was in Baldegg and later on in Belgium. As the youngest child she has never seen the Schoeneck at its glamour, only its tragedy and the tragedy of her parents and became an orphan at 14 and 16. She stayed with us for about one year after her mothers death, then worked in Basel in an office, underpaid suffering hunger and loneliness, when Hedel and Wilma returned from Portugal she moved with them into an apartment. She had a lovely voice and sang solo at our Christmas mass, I accompanied her on the Violin. Family friends then helped her to get proper lessons and she sang at the Basel opera and “Staettebund theatre” The Meyer Rohrs in Solothurn paid for her further education, she entered, the only Swiss, at a contest in Geneva. She then went to England, where Mario and Sally acquainted closely with her, we saw her on our visit in 1958 and have pictures with her at Trafalgar square and Buckingham Palace. Mario and Sally told us that in 1980 Hely invited them to stay at her place, apparently she was running a hotel.
KARL ALOIS ANTON TARZISIUS,born Oct.16,1922 and died 1951, son of Karl and Olga. He was a very feeble baby for month suffering of rashes apparently caused by the milk, he spent month in clinics and hospitals and very little at home. In childhood he had TB of the hip and again spent month away in a cast. The parents did not mind the expenses, after 7 girl he was the only boy they had. He was ten when his mother died. friends of the family took care of him, he was in school in Solothurn, stayed with the Meyer-Rohr’s. In 1935 I tried to get him into the Stella, which did not work out,he went to the Institut St. Michel in Fribourg, but he had nothing for study, had the urge to the fields, nature and animals and in 1941 went to an agriculture school and expressed to become a manager of a farm. At that time he visited us frequently, in 1942 he went for his basic training in the army, and jumping into the water he perforated his left eardrum, I checked it and referred him immediatly to the army doctor, being suspicious of TB otitis. His X-ray revealed pulmonary TB and he was evaluated by Prof.Alder in Aarau. On his exam.for the service he had only a fluoroscopy, and the TB was missed. Now the army became liable and he was for many years in Sanatoriums,Barmelweid and Ambri Piotta, recuperated and went into Photagraphy, was in Arosa working for a photagrapher, had a girlfriend and made plans fur the future when he was struck with a viral meningitis and died suddenly,Toni went to his bedside. The PM revealed that it was not TB.
