In 1873 Paul was born but died 7 days later afflicted by the “Gicht”(infantile convulsions).The next saison was busy because the Hotel Sonne next door was demolished for the new Verenahof construction and the guest were transferred to the Blume. In 1874 my father in law died of a stroke. Shortly after, Anna was born and in 1876 Ida and Max in 1878. In June 1870 the barn in the Wettingerland was set to fire by someone(damage of 2 000 Fr) and Franz Xaver had to bail out the Truttmanns at the Seslisberg with 16 000 Fr. On Aug.6,1897 a cerebral embolism struck Franz who 2 minutes earlier was discussing business maters with his wife, she found him on his desk ,head on his arms. Franz had been a member of the local Choral society, the music association, and worked well in the amateur Theatre society.
