THE BORSINGER CHRONIK

Linda 1842-1920

LINA was the oldest of the family and as such, helped out in the Blume as a young girl and after the death of her father, Karl Joseph Borsinger on Dec. 10, 1852 she stood by her mother as a very close support. She must have married at about 1884 the Hotelier Truttmann from the Seelisberg above the lake of Lucerne, they owned all the Hotels, like Sonnenhof and others and acquired also the Schoeneck as a dependence. Aunt Lina was a very fine lady and a good mother, she had 9 children and of those Karl, born 1868, took over a hotel in Thun (I believe Hotel Freihof), Phany born 1871,married Ernst Haas who owned the Hotels Palace and Beausite in Rome, where my parents stayed during their honeymoon, they had 2 sons, one named Guido which may had influenced my mother to give that name to me. Lina became a Mrs.Amstutz at the Freihof in Thun, Paul died of TB in Nervi, Italy; Joseph died in a psychiatric institution. Gottfried took over the Waldhaus Ruetli in Seelisbeerg, he died of TB. His children: Anneli takes care of the post office and the Bazar. Walter married a Lydia Hunziker, became a cook and went to the USA and has not been heard since. The big Hotels after W.W.I went into bankruptcy and aunt Lina was only able to keep the Posthouse which she leased in the summer, her only financial support.
